Little Forest Tileset and Character Base
A downloadable asset pack
This is a 16x16 top-down tileset to use in RPGs and Action-Adventure games.
This is the first tileset in a series of game assets I have planned for the future. The first game I ever wanted to make was a top down action game inspired by The Legend of Zelda: the Minish Cap, so I took inspiration from that game once again while creating this tileset, as you can see. My plan is to make tilesets for all the settings I had planned for that game.
This tileset is still in development, and will be receiving updates in the future, so I'll be reading your feedback!
I also decided to make a spritesheet base you can edit to fit all your character needs. It's in grayscale, so what I would recommend is editing it as a grayscale and then using your image editing software of choice, using a layer set to the "Color" blending mode to color it.
YOU CAN:
- Edit the assets
- Use the assets in both commercial and non-commercial games as long as you give credit (linking to this page would be appreciated!)
YOU CANNOT:
- Redistribute any asset from the pack
- Claim the asset pack as your own
This asset pack was made with Godot Engine in mind, but it should work on other engines without problems.
That being said, here's an autotiling bitmask guide for Godot users:
For the cliffs to work properly, you should set them up like this in the tileset editor:
Also, to get animated tiles working, you have to create an AnimatedTexture resource, assign the animation frames to it, and then load it to the tileset editor.
PLANNED UPDATES:
- More decoration tiles
- A tall grass autotile
- More animations for the character
- Any ideas I get from feedback
